D.C. Improvisers Collective(DCIC) is an ensemble/laboratory exploring the intersection of jazz, contemporary composition, and experimental music. DCIC is: Jonathan Matis: guitar, electronics Mark Merella: percussion, electronics, short wave radio Jon Ozment: piano, electronics, samples Mike Sebastian: tenor & soprano sax, bass clarinet DCIC’s debut release “here, we are” is made up of duo, trio and ensemble pieces culled from four different recording sessions. It has a variety and depth unusual in most freely improvised music. From the tranquil to the audacious, totally electronic to purely acoustic, it is a wide ranging listening experience.
